What StreamTB collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Account details
Your email address, username, display name, and a hashed version of your password. Passwords are stored using bcrypt and are never readable by us or recoverable in plain text.
Content you upload
The video files you upload plus their metadata — title, duration, file size, thumbnail, and upload time.
Usage data
Aggregate view counts per video, and standard server logs (IP address, user agent, timestamp) which we use to operate the service, investigate abuse, and enforce rate limits. We do not build advertising profiles from your viewing activity.
Why we process it
- To provide the service — storing, transcoding, and delivering your videos.
- To secure accounts — verifying email addresses, resetting passwords, detecting abuse.
- To communicate — verification and password-reset emails, plus any notifications you opt into in Settings.
- To meet legal obligations — responding to lawful requests and enforcing our terms.
How your videos are stored
Uploads are transcoded and served from our own origin storage behind a CDN. Video segments are stored in a masked form on disk and at the CDN edge, so media is not directly browsable from storage.
Videos are unlisted rather than encrypted end-to-end: anyone holding the link can watch, and our infrastructure can technically access stored files in order to serve them.
Who we share with
We do not sell your personal data. We share only with the processors needed to run the service — our hosting provider, our transcoding provider, our CDN, and our email provider — each acting on our instructions. We may also disclose data where legally required.
Retention
We keep account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, access is revoked immediately and your videos are scheduled for deletion from storage. Backups and server logs age out on a rolling schedule.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. It is required for the site to function, and we do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your rights
You can view and correct your profile details in Settings, control notification emails there, and delete your account at any time. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request a copy of your data or object to certain processing — contact us via the support page.
